This notice describes how WordPaper handles information in its vocabulary and wallpaper app, account services, subscriptions, and advertising features. You can read it without creating an account. Send privacy questions and requests to info@wordpaperapp.com.

Account and profile information

You sign in to WordPaper with your Google account. We store the email address, name, and profile picture Google provides, together with a Google account identifier. Authentication records include session identifiers, creation time, IP addresses, and device information.

Your settings include your own language, the language you are learning, your CEFR level (A1 to C2), your wallpaper style, and your reminder time. You choose and can change these in Profile > Settings.

Words, wallpapers, and history

Each day WordPaper generates a vocabulary word for you, made of the word, its pronunciation, a translation, a short definition, and an example sentence, along with an AI-generated lock-screen wallpaper showing that word. Generated words and wallpaper images are kept as your word history so you can revisit them, alongside your streak count.

Wallpaper images are stored with Cloudinary, an image-hosting service, and delivered to the app from there.

Why we process this information

Account information lets us authenticate you, maintain sessions, and respond to account requests. Your settings let us generate a word and wallpaper that match your languages, level, and style.

Generation records let us apply your plan's daily word limit and count words unlocked by watching rewarded ads. Purchase and reward records let us verify access and investigate missing benefits. Session and device records help detect abuse, enforce rate limits, and diagnose failures.

A daily reminder, when you turn it on, is scheduled on your device by the app itself; nothing is sent from our servers, and WordPaper sends no marketing emails.

AI processing

WordPaper uses OpenAI text models to generate each day's word, pronunciation, translation, definition, and example sentence, and OpenAI image models to generate the matching wallpaper.

Requests to these models include your language pair, CEFR level, wallpaper style, and the list of words already shown to you, so a word is not repeated. Requests never include your name or email address.

AI output can be inaccurate. Check a translation or definition before relying on it if accuracy matters to you.

Subscriptions and purchase information

Google Play Billing processes subscription payments for the Pro and Premium plans. Our server verifies purchase receipts with Google Play and receives Play real-time developer notifications about renewals, cancellations, and refunds. We do not receive your full payment-card details from Google Play.

A receipt is bound to the WordPaper account that made the purchase, so it can only be used to grant access on that account. Google operates its payment service under its own terms and privacy policy. Deleting the app or your WordPaper account does not cancel a subscription; use Google Play subscription management to stop renewal.

Advertising and your choices

On the free plan, you can watch rewarded ads to unlock up to two words per day, and you also see banner ads and occasional interstitial ads. All of these ads are served through Google AdMob, which can process device or advertising identifiers, IP addresses, device information, and ad interactions.

For users in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, a consent screen built on Google's consent platform asks for your advertising choices before ads are requested. You can revisit this screen to change your choices. Pro and Premium plans show no ads.

Service providers and other disclosures

Hosting and database services process the records needed to run WordPaper. OpenAI processes AI generation requests. Google Play Billing and AdMob process purchase and advertising information as described above. Cloudinary stores wallpaper images.

Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law or valid legal process, or where necessary to investigate fraud, protect accounts, or resolve a dispute. Providers may process information outside your country.

Retention and account deletion

Account, settings, word history, and purchase records remain in the active database while your account exists. To delete your account, go to Profile > Settings > Delete account and type DELETE to confirm; a successful deletion erases your account, settings, generated words and wallpaper images, generation records, purchase and reward records, and feedback messages.

We keep any purchase tokens as tombstone records after deletion. These prevent a deleted account from re-claiming one-time benefits, such as free extra words, or moving a subscription to another account. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone; signing in with the same Google account afterwards starts a new, empty account. Deletion does not cancel Google Play billing.

Operational logs, backups, support correspondence, and records controlled by Google Play, Cloudinary, or AdMob are separate from the active account database and are not all removed by account deletion.

Privacy requests and complaints

You can update your settings and delete your account in the app. Email info@wordpaperapp.com to request access, a copy of your information, correction, or deletion you cannot complete yourself. Describe the request and the Google account email you sign in with, so we can locate your account.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent, and complain to a data-protection authority. We may need proportionate information to verify a request before disclosing or changing account data.

Security and changes to this notice

WordPaper uses authenticated session tokens, access controls, and request limits. No storage or transmission system can guarantee absolute security. Tell support promptly if you suspect unauthorized access.

The date and version above identify this notice. Material changes to processing need an updated notice and any additional information or choices required by applicable law.
